If we’ve not met before, let me tell you a little bit about myself and my paper journey. First thing you should know is my extreme passion (maybe obsession) for my family! They are my everything and my number one inspiration. I spent the first 30 years of my professional career working as a registered nurse both in the operating room and as an administrator. I worked hard every day as a nurse and patient advocate but always found my heart being pulled toward the creative world. I loved using my hands and creating art that others could enjoy. I taught myself glass blowing, sewing, jewelry making, how to be a metal smith, and calligraphy. I truly enjoyed all these art forms but especially loved calligraphy and designing paper goods.
I’ve always been drawn to stationary, greeting cards, and works on paper. My love for cards is so obvious that each member of my family would gift me a minimum of two greeting cards each birthday or holiday! I still have most of them safely stored away. Artfull Messages was born and with the intent of creating designs that were “full of art”. As I began exploring this world, I found handmade paper and fell in love! The only road block I ran into was the lack of variety in terms of colors. Ever the creative student, I decided to take a stab at making my own handmade paper. The process was completely fascinating and almost therapeutic. I knew then that I had found my true creative calling. I decided to stop designing and use the knowledge I gained to create my own secret sauce in handmade paper. One I knew would cater directly to calligraphers and artists.
Now, I am a full time creativeprenuer working with the most amazing artists and brands that at one time I only admired from afar. It’s truly a dream come true. I've "pressed on" through years of ups and downs, working in an industry that was unfulfilling, venturing into different creative areas but never finding my true niche until now. Not only am I creating one-of-a-kind handmade papers but I also offer letterpress, digital printing, and hot foil press. Pressing is a part of all my processes and my paper. I’m so grateful for the support and encouragement of those who have been a part of my creative journey and excited to see where it takes me next!
